EVA based synthetic adhesive specially formulated for edgebanders

Overview
Polystick provides a family of EVA-based synthetic resin hot melt adhesives that suit the different requirements of various edgebanding equipment and bonding materials.

These products from hot melt adhesives manufacturer Polystick are 100%-solid formulations based on thermoplastic polymer. No water or solvents are involved and no drying time is needed. They become liquid when heated beyond their softening point to reach their working temp, wetting and penetrating the substrate. Upon re-solidification, they return to a physical state that has structural integrity.

Advantages of Polystick HotMelts

-Do not cause grain rise and help to fill voids in the board´s surface.
-Have superior water resistance when compared to PVA or UF adhesives, as tested per the KCMA sponge test.
-Not affected by humidity or trapped water.
-Do not generate any hazardous waste due to their use of adhesive-coated paper.
-Require less energy (as no drying is required) and less ventilation.
-Have ´zero´ wastage during lamination.

Product Characteristics

HM-50: This hot melt adhesive is used on the Holz-Her type of edgebanders that have cartridges (80mm long x 63mm diameter). It is excellent for bonding PVC, Melamine, HPL and veneers. It is recommended that a heat resistance of approximately 65ºC be tested before applying edging strips to furniture. HM-50 is available in natural, white, brown and black colors.

HM-80: This general-purpose hot melt adhesive can be universally used on edgebanders in different climatic zones. It has good melting and flowing properties as well as thermal stability and is used to bond PVC, Melamine and veneer edges. During long pauses between applications it is recommended to lower the adhesive temperature to 160ºC to avoid adhesive degradation.

HM-81:  This general-purpose hot melt adhesive can be universally used on edgebanders in different climatic zones. It has good melting and flowing properties as well as thermal stability and is used to bond PVC, Melamine and veneer edges. It can also be used for precoating. HM-81 is recommended that a heat resistance of approximately 75ºC be tested before applying edging strips to furniture. During long pauses between applications it is recommended to lower the adhesive temperature to 160ºC to avoid adhesive degradation. HM-81 is available in natural, white, grey, brown and black colors.

HM-1111: This special hot melt adhesive is intended for pre-coated PVC, Melamine and veneer edges. It has excellent spreading properties and provides strong adhesion. During long pauses between applications it is recommended to lower the adhesive temperature to 140ºC to avoid adhesive degradation.
HM-1111 is available in natural, brown and white colors.

Hazardous information
Be aware that at the recommended working temperature, the hot melt adhesive will give off fumes that can irritate the respiratory organs. An appropriate exhaust system must therefore be installed in the working environment. In addition, harmful decomposition products will form if the working temperature is exceeded over a long period.

Maintenance
All residual encrustations of the adhesive must be regularly and completely removed from the melting tank as they conduct heat poorly and cause a lowering of the adhesive temperature.

Storage
All Polystick HotMelt (HM) products should be stored in their closed original containers in well-ventilated places and at room temperature. Under such storage conditions the hot melt adhesive will preserve its original characteristics for at least 12 months.
